'I have a deeply embedded respect for nature

It all started in highschool where I developed an interest in native American peoples, because of their culture, their philosophy of live and their respect for nature. They feel a direct connection with their surroundings and therefor nature. This is what inspires me. They respect flora and fauna by living in a sustainable manner. By doing so, their living habits do not exhaust the earth. I truly admire this and I am inspired to follow their way of living.

My journey to the US through Navajo territory in 1972 was ' a dream come true'.

During my academic years, I expressed my love for the indigenous art by the beautyful geometrical forms, that I integrated and used in designs for book covers, stationary, calendars etc.

To this day, you will find influences of it in my work'.

In my series 'Universe' I show the origin and arise of mankind. By means of symbolism of DNA and geometrical building blocks.

With these paintings I point out the futility of man. We are totally insignificant in space and time. Also as artists we should better reduce our ego and be humble and grateful.
